Did everybody enjoy the storm?

Nothing like waiting for it....... I've been complaining all December long about no snow....... someone finally heard me complaining

Winds were crazy so we waited until around noon yesterday. Funniest cleanup I've ever done, 2" deep in some places and 4' in others.

In hindsight I should have probably used chains on the snowblower since I spun the wheels like crazy because of all the ice underneath the snow.

Overall... around 2 hours for the cleanup, and now our property looks AWESOME!

My wife even climbed up on the deck and cleaned that off even though I didn't have time to build the stairs before winter came.

Loved watching the storm in other peoples back yard.

I had more snow left in my driveway yesterday than my neighbor had on his lawn-- and I had used the snow thrower the morning after the storm. Stupid wind! I'm putting up a snow fence.

Winter is just a state of mind and you plan and work with it.

We had 17" of sissy snow (light, fluffy) followed by a couple of 4-6" sissy snows. Sissy snow is the light stuff that can move around and disappear fast in comparison to the wet snows of the east. Streets and roads are bare. My patio is clean because of the sun and current light rain and the 24" snow cover is down to 12" and continuing down until the next sissy snow. What is surprising is that the pre-treatment (spray of a liquid containing magnesium) of the roads before a snow makes the snow removal much faster and cheaper since it does to stick and minimizes the use of salt. It does not work when there is moisture before the snow because of the dilution.

We look forward to a blizzard so it can be planned for and parties can be scheduled.

Luckily the storm was on a Sunday
I know some kids were not happy that it was during school vacation
So no Snow day for schools on Monday
Our snow started out as fairly lite, but it moved to wet & heavy
I went out a few times with the snow blower & shovel to clean out
We have had 2 sunny days & 2 more with warmer weather are expected
At least it waited until after Christmas
Altho I'm sure anyone flying did not like the storm
Sat may be up to 50 degrees here, bad news for the New Years Eve ice scultptures

OH MAN! I don't remember getting this much volume-wise since the winter of 1996. Everyone keep talking about 2006, but it doesn't stick out in my memory for some reason... maybe I was away.

I have PHENOMENAL piles on the sides of my driveway now and I actually dove off my deck into the snow I just shoveled off. Overall a fun day!
