That about sums it up...especially with cars being far more deadly than guns...

The Dick Act of 1902
I love the way the NRA is blowing this way out of portion. NOBODY is talking about taking all guns away. Only assault weapons. Mandatory background checks on all purchases including gun shows. I don't see what the big deal is. You can still have handgun, shotgun, rifle. What do you need a military style assault weapon for anyway?

The Dick Act of 1902
First of all it's not an assault weapon. It's a "Semi-Automatic
rifle" that just happens to have a pistol grip and a collapsible
stock. They're now called "personal defense weapons".
It's semi auto rifles now. The libs dont like guns and they
don't like you having guns. If it were up to them the military
and law enforcement would be the only ones armed. Doesn't
that bother you at least a little.
Im not going to address need. Everyone's needs are different.
The 2nd amendment guarantees
my right to own as many as I want. Period.

Ayuh,..... For the exact same reason Rosa Parks wanted to sit in the front of the bus, 'n not in the back of the bus.....
The gun show loophole, Ain't no such thing...
What it'll do if they close it, is to stop me from givin' my guns to my heirs...
'n the guns they're tryin' to ban, are nothin' but semiauto huntin' rifles with plastic stocks...
Nothin' more, 'n nothin' less....

Sorry to say, you are wrong. The bill originally proposed by New York State was to have a hand guns banned from private citizens in 5 years. The bill never made it out of committee.

I don't need any gun, but it is my right to legally own one. You don't need a lot of things that we have available. Just think of all of the items you own. Do you really need the items you have or would a lesser grade work just as well?
I am arguing for my CHOICE.

The Dick Act of 1902
Ya know.....it's a question of where does it all end.
What's next on the hit list of things I can't have or do?
You can't have a 32oz soda, but you can have 2 - 16 oz.,
you can't smoke in your house and you can't smoke outside.
You can't drive and talk on your cell phone but you can talk to
the guy in the other seat. I'm sure there's lots more examples
of stupid stuff you can't have or do.
Some wack job goes goes on a shooting spree and now you
can't have the same type gun he used. Im not the criminal!
Where's the logic?
If we start losing our gun rights it won't be long before what
I've said in this thread will land me in jail.

Go back and read the previous posts. Assault rifles have been illegal for many years. What they are wanting to ban, and I have read the senate bill, is semi-automatic hunting rifles. Just like the 1994 ban, what would get banned is based on cosmetics only. It has nothing to do with function. The Bushmaster is identical in function (except for magazine capacity)to a wooden stock semi-automatic rabbit hunting rifle. A rifle I used to hunt rabbits as an 8 year old. The main difference is that they look like a military rifle, period.

The sad part is that at Sandy Hook, he didn't use the gun that they are trying to ban.

They want the citizenry disarmed. It's that simple.

Henson Ong at Gun Violence Prevention Public Hearing - Hartford, CT - 1/28/2013

I didn't get to hear Gabby Gifford's testimony the other day. Does anyone know if she mentioned that it was 2 men who were carrying guns legally who tackled the man who shot her and kept him from shooting more people than he did?
