Question

Demucking in South Florida

Could anyone tell me an approximate cost to demuck in South Florida? The property is approximately 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 acres in West Broward. The plan is to build a home and I'm guessing depending on the size of the home, the demucking could be anywhere from $20,000 and up, but I'm just guessing. If you could tell me if I'm in the ball park, I would appreciate it.

messing up wetlands opens a big can of worms. read this first
http://www.dep.state.fl.us/water/wetlands/index.htm

Aren't there enought places to build or prebuilt places for sale in Florida already? why mess up an ecco system and then deal with it encroaching on you little island for as long as you live there?

just the mosquitos alone would get me looking for a different neiborhood.

If I wanted an opinion I would of asked for one! If you don't know the answer, then don't reply! This is a thread for questions and answers, not an opinion poll.

1. This forum is a DIY information and IS NOT a way to estimate costs.

2. Because this is a DIY site we ask questions that some people may not consider... such as the regulations for affecting wetlands etc.

There is no way to "guess" the costs of this procedure. You need to contact a few people and get some quotes.

I agree with forresth that doing this will result in a can of worms with the state. But if this is what you're set on then good luck and let us know how it goes!

Thank you, I will contact a contractor out there. Just a note for all above - this 1.5 acre parcel is not in the glades, it's surrounded by houses. It's already built up out there and has been since the 70's, no thanks to the neighboring cities! The wetlands are already protected and no more grandfathering your camp is allowed, thanks to the state and BC, so I'm not opening a can of worms with anyone. I appreciate your answer and the in the manner you quoted it.

Well now that is a horse of a different color! We are in the same boat in Michigan... ALOT of marsh etc and it gets tricky.

Just call a few guys out and see what they say. A visit to the city JUST in case would help too. Maybe they can give you some information on who does that sort of work as well.

keep us posted!

When you ask for advice you are also getting opinions
Just the way it works
I have a stream on my property
ANY work I do, permit etc has to be approved by conservation committee

I think most if not all states have restrictions and require permits on any alteration of a water way.
