D-Ring

I'm thinking about buying 10 of something like this to screw into a wooden 6x6 pole for my kids to climb up to a tree house. The ones pictured below are 4" bolt center which is fairly perfect, but they are only 2 1/4 inches high which is kind of small. Anyone know of any (preferably cheap) hardware like this that would have approx 4" bolt centers, but be bigger? Actually, a true "D" with the bolt holes located inside the arch would be be better. I've searched a ton but haven't found anything.

Those don't seem like they'd be very strong, you're right there....
I'd recommend these with a pilot hole to help screw them in.
They will be VERY strong in a 6x6.
They can be found at any hunting supply store as we normally use them for deer hunting around here. Bigbox MIGHT have them?

That looks perfect! I'm not a hunter - I didn't think to search for tree steps.

You can still use the D-rings as rope guides for the (elevator?)
