LOL, thats the kind of weather that usually has me working on roof top units getting them to work again, so office people have heat.

I lived in this area most of my life and it never ceases to amaze me how narrow a lake effect band can be.

I'd rather have the snow versus the bitter cold that's happening west of us.

Yeah, there was a pretty narrow band in Ellicottville Sat night. Water from spruce lake was snowing down on select slopes. Some piles were at least 15' deep.

Crazy weather???

Big flakes of snow----mild temperature here.

My mothers side of the family is from Hamburg New York---near Buffalo---
She always thought Illinoisans were whiners ---" You have never really seen it snow.",She would say.

I've seen family photos of some of the lake snows---stop lights glowing through the drifts---and the row of chicken coops looking like hills in the snow---

They had a door to the porch roof on the second floor---she said that it was there so they could get out of the house when the doors were drifted shut---

Crazy weather???

This is the only picture I had taken on last Wednesday, when it began. Current total, just shy of 60" and still snowing....
Predicting freezing rain Friday through Sunday.

We don't get much snow around here but I like it for a day or so then it needs to be gone. That much snow gives me claustrophobia, it really scares me, I don't think I could handle that. That sure is pretty though.

Our dog loves the snow. She got out there and couldn't move. One look in her eyes and it was sheer terror. It was not pretty to see her porpoise up and down trying to go.

47-47

The lake effects are certainly a phenomenon that varies were you are in relationship to the water and prevailing winds.

I lived a block from Lake Huron and we had a annual snow fall of 100 inches and saw 200 inches. - It was the lazy/sissy lake snow where you would often get a few inches frequently when the were no clouds and it snowed in the early morning, but the 2-4" would blow off the roads because of draft from cars and evaporate/transpire during the day. - Not a problem.

When I drove frequently from the upper lower of MI across the lower upper of MI along Lake Michigan with the monster (Lake Superior) to the north, I was driving through strips of wind and heavy snow (NW to NE) for a mile or so and then a few miles of clear sunny weather, but cool air (10F to 35F) for about 75 miles. It must have been a weatherman's worst situation.

I now live in MN, where in the cold of winter, we get "Alberta Clippers" that seem to run on rails and quite predictable from the NW that dump 1" to 4" of fluff that is immediately followed by cooler weather and clear skies. Our dread is the early winter or spring storms that give us the horrible 5 to 12" of wet stuff fueled by southern moisture that does not go away very quickly.

Whether/(weather) you like it or not, it sure makes you an amateur weatherman. We are just a few months away from the tornado season that is also entertaining and boosts the TV stations with the best weather crews.

Dick

My sister has a husky/black lab cross and the darn thing loves the COLD and outdoors. Was -20 the other day and she had to bribe it with treats to come back in the house. Pulls her so hard she feels like a tobaggon when she takes it to the dog park.

The weather guy said, "A big messy storm heading our way for the weekend".
His next comment... "Stay tuned after the break for the full forecast".
Twenty minutes later, I tune in and they're talking about sports.
How about if they wait to tell the weather forecast until I get back to the tv?
'snot fair.

If you're getting rain rossi, then it's probably headed our way next. Unless it fizzles-out over Lake Michigan.

Three lows heading for the great lakes. One from north and two from Texas. Going to be warm, cold then warm again with snow, freezing rain or rain. Sunday is supposed to be the worst.
