Craigslists Scores - good stuff

My wife just asked me last night if I am still checking Craig's List for the "deals". I said sure, just nothing really worth it, why? She said she missed the trips we would take to go pick up some random pile of stuff. (She normally takes the road trip with me). We once drove an hour to go pick up some old "gently used" pressure treated wood, at 9PM.

Picked up an air hockey table for free, not far away so not much gas $$ to get there
I bought paddles & pucks for $16 at Sears
It works - not perfect - but my son is still young
It will work until the Great room is done & we get a bigger model
Then this one can go out to the pool cabana for summers

I just picked up another Sony 27" Trinitron for free
Its ~15 years old, the last tube TV that died was 25 years old when it went
Back up to 6 TV's in the house
Oldest TV in the house is the wifes old 19" - 19 years old

I got a rock.

if you aren't old enough to recognize that, it is from the Charlie Brown halloween cartoon. Everybody was touting what they got from the house just visited. At each house, charlie brown's reply is simply "I got a rock"

that is apparently the proper comparison between Craig's list near Dave and the ones near me.

Here is an example. It's not a tv or an air hockey table though. If the economy doesn't improve, it might be dinner though

We get people putting leaves on craigslist
I pick up pallets locally from 2 different places
Makes good starter firewood

I need at least 2 more TV's for the Great room/bar area
One for the 2nd floor bedroom

I need to run cable out to the pool cabana

I need bricks, looks like I will be checking there too. Did you get the bricks for free? How far did yo have to drive? I found a few for sale but they were on LI which is a bit of a haul to get BRICKS!

Most of the other ones I find are advertising used bricks for $1 each!!

I've picked up probably close to 1,000 bricks for free
Enough pavers to do a large patio out back
Some "junk" pavers that I used to make a path along my fence in the woods
All for free...also some stone dust that I used on the 2nd driveway

And today....more free stuff
There is a Lady in the next Town who clears out houses of unwanted items
Some items she sells, the rest she just gives away
She has such a volume of items that she is always giving them away, rather then pay to take the stuff to the dump

I picked up a bed for my son (we have a mattress) the other day
Today she had an entire truckload in her driveway that was all free
I picked up a 6' tall x 32" x 48" Rubbermaid garden shed
Maybe 5-6 lamps, some mirrors, picture frames, Christmas decorations, some toys for my son - some brand new & some odds & ends/kick knacks
Filled the bed of the pickup & the cab

Needs a little cleaning but I put this up against the backof the pool cabana
Great place to store shovels, rakes & all the gardening stuff

I was just thinking about buying one of those rubbermaid sheds today hahaha. You have now inspired me to embark on a mission to get one without paying for it.

Another day another score
A Condo complex is buying all new pool chairs/loungers
So I picked up 11 loungers & 7 small tables - big enough for drinks & snacks
Another guy beat me there & grabbed the 2 umbrellas

Dark blue strap loungers, man these are expensive when new !!
One site listed them at around $200 each

Nope, I still have gardens to edge, walkways to build + another patio
Usually Spring & early summer is when people redo walkways & patios
I've already seen a few listings for free patio block

I need to figure out what I'm going to use to build the walkway from the front driveway out to the side yard
I don't have enough bricks, but I don't want to pick up any more until I get the new back patio finished
Pool area needs more room for the loungers

I've actually been cleaning up this year
An extra barrel of trash every week until all the junk is cleaned up
This week I out out the junk I hauled out of the stream
Glad the trash men took it
