Contractor bait & switch or honest error?

I was given a quote on a Trane ac/furnace system, but later the contractor called to say that Trane announced that they were no longer using the ADP manufactured coil. So, the unit he quoted me could not make the SEER ratings needed for the federal tax credit. He then proposed a different but comparable Bryant system at the same price.

Bryant has a good reputation and the SEER & EER ratings are the same. This unit actually has a 2-stage compressor and a variable speed furnace blower so it sounds like a better unit.

Is there really a problem with Trane or is this some weird bait & switch deal?
