Child Scarring Hoilday Extremes

I was emotionally scarred as a child because my Mom went almost as overboard as some of the people on this site with decorations for every Holiday. Christmas was especially chilling as she only wanted blue bulbs on the exterior of the house and every last branch of its trees. My Dad was not about to pay full retail for packs of the things so we used to have to wade through those barrels of bulk bulbs they had at drug stores, picking out just the blue ones. Anyhow, it could have been worse. Dad was not into taxidermy although I am not sure why not. Perhaps if he had known about the "Crappy Taxidermy" website (included the URL for your inspiration) he would have tried to better it. Alas, the post for this thread is from, "There I Fixed It!" though.

My parents never went overboard with decorating, but my nextdoor neighbor was a full-on extremist. Every year for Christmas, the front of his garage would house a glass-encased manger scene...and the fun didn't stop there. Rudolph would spill over into our yard. Basically, every single decoration you could imagine would be up there. Never really scarred me, but it definitely scared me a little bit.

By the way, I love that site ThereIFixedIt...hilarity

Yeah...that might scare a kid
Had a guy who went hunting & he hung the deer upside down from a tree (drain blood ?)
He put red lipstick on the nose & told kids he killed Rudolph

I have a very large Halloween & Christmas display
But I'm not sure how only having blue bulbs could be "scarring"

My Halloween is not a blood & guts display....very non-scary
The scariest part is near the front door, black lights...skeletons that talk...a 6' one that has a microphone & I can talk
One little kid was scared so I turned the reg lights on & he was OK

My son loves decorating & each nite looks out to make sure things are turned on & the wind hasn't knocked anything over

I can see how going to stores looking for blue bulbs during the Christmas season could be scarring
I stay away from stores as much as possible during the Holiday season
I usually buy everything after Christmas or in a bulk order well before Christmas
Last LED order was for ~20,000 lights (strings of 50-100)
