Holy cow doc! This 'lady' makes your landlady's nutty friend sound like Mr. Normal.

I hope you take creepers advice and break off all contact with that drunk. Nothing good can come from that relationship.

Thanks for reminding me how nice it is to be out of the dating pool. Those waters could use a sh*t ton of chlorine.

Listen here my special friend.. RUN AWAY.. and do not look back, no matter how much fun you may think you had..

To stay one second longer is to get sucked into her vortex of toxicity. Nothing good will come of this.

Do not engage in any further communication with her
Do not fall for the tears
Do not fall for the anger
Do not fall for the threats of violence or self violence

Do not get angry with her...just walk away or put down the phone
Get a restraining order if she has no level of self pride and won't leave you alone
Stop drinking..you did it before and you will do it again

Remember that we love you
now that's debatable

well, I went back. things have been decent for awhile, since that one epic fail of a night. I paid to have her window switches fixed in her car and am buying her four new tires soon as well.

I can't say she's a drunk, she doesn't need to drink nor does she every day, but when she does it's Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde! Found that out the hard way...

It's nice having a girl and she's an old school (six years older than myself) type of woman, cooks and cleans and does my laundry, etc.., just not sure what's to come of it, though, or how long it will last.

Time will tell. Who knows, you all may read of me in the papers!!

Doc, when I read your last post, my first impression is that she's being nice to you for now.... until the new tires are on the car. That probably sounds mean for me to say, but I've had several friends and neighbor ladies over the years who were single or single and raising kids alone. Money was tight. I saw some of them take advantage of their 'boyfriend' who was willing to pay for their car repairs.

One friend needed (wanted) $600 to fly out to Reno, NV to visit her mom or some silly thing. She had already told me she didn't really like the guy but yet she had no problem accepting a big chunk of his paycheck. But, he kept spending money on her and buying her things. She looked at him and saw dollar signs and never had any intention of paying him back the $600.

Right after that, she broke up with him. Don't let your gal take advantage of you like that. Just give it time and you'll find a sweetheart who will be worth the wait.

If you're going to stay with her, pay attention to how she treats you after you've paid for her window switches and tires. If her personality switches back to her old, grouchy self, you'll know why.

Just my 2.

Barb

An alcoholic may or may not drink every day. My ex-father in law could go for months without a drink. but once he had one drink, he would disappear for 2 weeks to sometimes a month. Then not drink again for months.

Worked with a guy that was the same way. he wouldn't even think of a drink for a year or 2. Then would disappear for months. My boss at that time, rehired him every time he wanted his job back. Last time, my boss went to a meeting with him to his counselor. After the joint meeting was over. the counselor asked my boss to stay behind. He gave my boos heck, told him he was part of the guys drinking problem. As long as he was willing to forgive the guy and hire him back. Subconsciously, the guy had no real reason to quit drinking.

Good luck Doc.

All relationships come with their own unique set of challenges. But, a good litmus test is how she makes you feel about yourself most of the time.

Everyone has arguments and turmoil from time to time. BUT if you are arguing and feeling bad more often then not it would be a huge red flag for you don't you think?

Unfortunately, like an addict of any sort, a person will usually not take advice, or see it with the same point of view of everyone else. They will not change until they are good and ready and not a moment sooner.

How many chances to you give someone to screw up, before you figure it out.

I am going to break this down to you in a way that Barb (a fellow ta-ta wearer) was too polite to do.

*****es is crazy.

Seriously, here's my theory- there's a sliding scale in the universe with women on the "crazy" side and men on the "stupid" side (they HAVE to be to keep going back). Every relationship finds its equilibrium on this scale. So, the more sane the woman, the more intelligent the man and vice-versa.

So you have to consider this; from what we've heard, this woman is bat **** crazy and not interested in meeting you any closer to the middle of the scale. Are you really willing to take the opposite side of that kind of crazy (be that kind of stupid) just so you can get the laundry done and the house clean?
