CFL bulbs - bad for your health?

I have 4 100w bulbs in my bathroom, and let me tell you, it's like a heater in there. I had to wear shorts and tshirt when doing work as I was getting way too hot.

Fluorescent lights have been used for decades by business
While I think some people are affected everyone would be sick if it was really a problem
I'm hoping LED prices come down to the point where I will buy them
Not ready to spend $30 a bulb

I was thinking that too, arnt CFLs the same as neon tubes, just smaller?

I do wish they would make a standard for CFLs where you can buy the ballast seperate then the bulb hooks into the ballast. what makes them wasteful is the fact that you how to throw out the ballast when they burn out, and the ballast may still be good.
