One of the things I am really enjoying is Spotify and the Muve Music service that comes with my prepaid phone service. I usually check things out with Spotify and build a playlist for when home. I download albums to my phone with Muve.

I don't think I have listened to a commercial radio station on a regular basis in five years or more. I gave up on daily television too and watch what shows and movies I want via Hulu.

I enjoy the posts on this site regarding music. I am so sick of cover bands! It is nice to remember some remember great artists from the past. I do hope Indie music gets a better fighting chance with music services that put artists on a somewhat more equal playing field.

We can't get spotify up here yet, but I read there is a way via a UK site.

I just bought a vehicle with a usb port. (now I can drive and use the laptop...I joke..) I don't want an Ipod ( my kids have them, but I don't want to share theirs)

So what I've been doing is downloading songs to memory stick from wwwyoutube to mp3 converter.
Cut and paste your pick from youtube to the mp3 converter site and save to computer. Transfer to the stick

I seem to remember getting a requested invitation to join Spotify US after months waiting. I signed up ages before that using a temporary UK proxy server at no charge. I provided a UK address (a McDonald's in London) and once the account was opened I went in and changed all the profile and address information.

I do get blocked from some songs not available in the US (but could get them with a UK proxy server switch). Muve Music comes with my phone plan but you have to download music to listen to it without previewing which is kind of a pain.

I think the paid Spotify plans are available in the US and Canada without much effort at all. I do have to suffer ads with my free account that makes it seem like local radio at times. And I cannot download anything from Spotify with a free account.
