Can you guess what this is?

First clue: I found it lying outside the front door. It is very hard.
Note the size compared to the cell phone.

Another clue tomorrow, if no one guesses.

The only explanation I have is aliens. It comes from them.

minerals leaching out of the roof(WAG)?

A cluster of calcium, like from a cave.

Snav 12-01-2011 07:16 PM

It's upside down - looks like it's a speleothem: mineral stalactite formation (the ones from the ceiling)

But if you turn it sideways it looks like a ceramic version of The Ecstasy of St Theresa (sculpture by Bernini - in the Vatican) or something from the Throne of St Peter. . . something in Romanesque style - or even Roman art of the Hellenistic period.

A glob of epoxy that someone used to fill a hole in rotted wood.

Close enough!
It's a glob of concrete that I used to fill a rotted out spot in the door frame.
