Book matches--dial telephones and screw in fuses

Red Squirrel,
I thought where you are bears hanging around in town would be a common occurrence. Now polar bears...that would be something

Lone you just made me feel really old---I remember a bowling alley with a pin spotter-( a kid that manually set the pins and rolled the ball back to you)--

Haha yeah bears are a fairly normal occurrence in summer. We're actually not allowed to put our trash out the night before because of this reason.

The polar bears have all migrated north, we've been getting warmer weather in the past few years. The coldest I've seen in past 5-10 years is only -30.

when the power went out your family lit candles and played board games, didnt have home generators.
Coleco touchdown football.
remember jumping in the back of dads pick-up to go to the store?
your mom took you to buy new pants because yours had holes in them,or worse she just ironed on denim patches and called them"play pants" now you buy them with holes. GOOD TIMES THOUGH I think this generation really missed out on good times.
I dont know what any of this has to do with DIY but this is fun.

Radio mystery theaters....I know for a decade or so CBS Radio had one. Always amazing to listen to even today (they are readily available on the net, and are in the public domain, so no troubles).

When 6 of us kids still lived at home, we rode in the back of my dad's pickup truck up to Cadillac, MI - about 2 hours away. My mom still feels bad about that.

In the five & dime store, you could really find things for 5 and 10.

The price of gas stayed the same day after day. It didn't jump up 30 in one day.

At Sears you could buy warm cashews, peanuts, Brazil nuts, pistachio's, etc. The lady (or guy) scooped them into a paper bag and you could eat them while walking through the store.

Kids addressed adults as "Miss, Mr., Mrs., sir, ma'am".

No cordless phones. Therefore, no private conversations on the phone.

Believe it or not--I have an old wooden crank telephone down in the basement--

My dad hooked wires to the generator--we would hold hands and he would shock the whole bunch of us.

Great fun.
