Book matches--dial telephones and screw in fuses

I got a call last night--lights out --blown screw in fuse--"What am I looking at here?"

Got me thinking about the first time my kids saw a dial telephone---
" Dad,How does this work?"

Or a neighborhood kid asking,"What are Points." When his old jelope wouldn't start.

What other every day items from years gone by are a mystery to our younger generation?

Abacus, slide-rule, "kick-the-can", "flash-light tag" ... ?
RF

I remember when we "upgraded" from dial phones to "touch-tone"!

8-track!
DOS
typewriters
Trig and log tables
card catelogs
tan M&Ms
hard bound encyclopedias
checks
cash
going out all day and parents not worrying so long as you were back by dinner
go-carts made of found scrap (that you forgot to put brakes on)

Books, "electric" typewriters, calculators that had a paper print-out,
"Jeans", that weren't "designer", not locking your doors ...
Gasoline for 35 cents a gallon!
"LP's" (vinyl) - although, they're making a "come-back"!
MacD' burgers for 15 cents a piece.
(Remember when they posted on their signs - 1,000,000 sold!)
Writing papers "long-hand".

"Film cameras"?
What, no more "Polaroid pictures"?

Hanging around at a "hang-out" -
not at a "Mall".
Might have been - "Downtown".

"creeper"
They still have milk delivery around here - if you can afford it!
Very, good milk!!! - very, expensive!
The same company that delivered milk to our house, in 1956 -
is still doing it!
Time flies!

Proper spelling and using the right word. Knowing, is it, to or too, their or there, bare or bear, etc?
