Bee-keeping is illegal in NY City - help make it legal

I found this very weird, beekeeping is illegal
Seems very strange

So there is a petition to sign to bring the bees back
Many people keep bees to make honey & pollinate crops
I know, not many crops in NYC
It appears that anyone can sign the petition
Bees pollinate food crops, so its important to have them
And they have been on the decline due to pesticides & other reasons

Sorry man, but I think that law is 100% reasonable..

If it were legal, you know there would be a bunch of people beekeeping in their apartments. Bees don't know a door from a window, and then you've got a building full of angry, confused bees. Even if they went out a window, they'd just go back in the neighbor's window to pollinate the vase of flowers on their table.

I have a fear of bees anyway (yeah, it's funny to see a 6'4" man run away from a small bee, or so I'm told), so if my neighbor started beekeeping I would be starting a hobby of beepoisionkeeping.

Beekeepers don't keep bees in Apts
They'd die
They need flowers & stuff for food

Heheheh.. Agreed. But I think people would try anyway. 8M people -- there's gonna be at least a few apt. beekeepers.

What about that guy that had a crocodile and a tiger in his apt.? That's definitely not a good idea, but there he was on the evening news..

There are already people keeping bees in NY city
So the law is pointless
And the White House even has a beekeeper & hive on the White House lawn to bring attention to the problem - decline of bees
If the bees go most of the food in the world goes shortly after that
