Avocado's Anyone?

I pulled a 'few' avocado's off my tree yesterday.....by my estimate I have at least 50 more....need to get them picked before the 'local' residents get to them....

Sometimes I think I should sell these babies at the local market....I'm sure I could be top dollar.....especially when they are this big.....

Eat your heart out.....cuz this weekend we will be eating these bad boys...

This was from last year....I would estimate that we pull about 8 tubs off the tree....

Maybe you should get a dehydrator. Are dried avocados good?

Wow..avocadoes in the backyard. Thats kind of cool. Something imported around here.

Maybe the kids can have a little stand out front..

Child labor?

I like that idea.....

Actually, we are thinking of having a garage sale in about a week......that might be a good thing for the kids to do while the garage sale is going on...chance are it would make more than the garage sale...

So....how much would you guys be willing to pay per avocado? $2/ea?

I'm not a fan of avocados, but I do appreciate home grown produce.
I have childhood memories of my grandma's orange and grapefruit trees. Nothing like fresh juice in the morning!

$2 a piece and mention that no pesticides or harmful chemicals were used in making them, like the ones they get at the grocery store. Then, pick one up and take a bite out of it like it's an apple. Instant sale.

Oh.....and we have bell peppers growing in the garden....just need tomatoes...onions....hot peppers....salsa.......and beer...lots of beer....

Come on over guys....

Yum!

I remember when my grandparents first moved to Florida they lived in an Airstream parked underneath an avocado tree.

Thump!

The are sort of an acquired taste.....sort of like Sushi

But once you start liking them...oh boy....not unusual for me to eat a couple for lunch...slice them up....salt, pepper...a little lemon juice....

I was staying with one of my college friends for a few weeks in the summer, in Dinuba, CA. Anyways, they had an avocado tree that was LOADED, and I mean LOADED with fruit. Well I love avocados, and I nearly died from eating so many of them that week.

I would love to be able to grow an avocado tree up here in Idaho, but I don't think they are cold hearty enough. :( :censored:

In Northern California by damned immigrant Mexican neighbor grew avacodoes. Nothing else for some reason. He and family used to trade the things to me for grapefruit I had growing and lemons and limes. Idjut. Even I know you cannot make fresh quacamole with just citrus fruit.

My parents, Midwestern immigrants to California did what most do and planted one of everything that would grow nuts or fruit. Unfortunately we had fruit ripening---too much at one time all season long---hanging on trees. I was ten when we moved there but was deprived candy most of developing years. Go pick a nut, apricot, peach, plum or a fig really does harm a child.

Wish I could take the avacodoes off your hand. I have a great quacamole recipe with secret ingredient if you need it. Have you tried hiding avacs in ommeletes? Some morning people will spot the difference in color between them and scrambled eggs. But with bacon or ham, or shrimp, cream cheese and some herbs.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
