If you had so many problems with this particular store ... then why were they still getting your business ... and your money?
I would have shopped somewhere else a long list of complaints ago.
Money talks and rudeness (and items without prices) make me walk.

Play the game we in the customer service business call " totem pole"

Keep climbing the totem pole of customer serice in the company your dealing with until you get statisfaction.

If not, it will never improve... Most companies WANT to hear about their shortfalls.

I could write a book with H.D. complaints... So why do I still shop there? Well I prefer not to make the 1 hour round trip to go somewhere else.

My latest story... I bought a bathtub on hold. Came back to pick it up, and they were annoyed that I didn't call ahead.... One woman said "Oh I hate when they do this"

Do what? Make a purchase? She said I needed to give them an hour notice. So what if I just walk in and point to a tub to buy, I have to wait an hour???

Then they screwed up my 5 appliances delivery.... so I had to rering them. In the end I screwed them by submitting rebates for both sales, and I got all of them... including three delivery rebates when they only made one.

I thought the CEO was going to fix everything at those stores, that's what he said!
Do you know the previous CEO that ruined the company as far as I'm concerned walked away with $210,000,000? What a joke!!!

I used to work for Circuit City, back when you could actually make a living there. A few years back they fired all the real salesman, replaced them all with teenage "clerks" making $8/hour. Apparently customers these days would rather save $10 on a TV than have real help and support. ehhh whatcha gonna do.

The richer get richer, the poorer get poorer. Notice how there isn't a middle class anymore? It's just the filthy rich, and the rest of us living paycheck by paycheck.

checkout www.ripoffreport.com, great site, fun to read all that crap

(end rant)

Good customer service: ABTElectronics.com

We got our washer from them. I paid the extra $50 to have the delivery men bring it into the basement rather than drop it on our sidewalk. Well, when they got there, they had papers that said to leave it on the sidewalk. We bribed them to get it inside; there was no way I was hauling that thing down those stairs.

I called ABT to get my $50 back. I was all geared up to pick a fight with the customer service rep. As soon as I explained what happened, she says "Would it be ok if I credit your account for the delivery charge, or would you prefer a check?" I didn't even ask for the money back yet. She credited my account and we were done. The entire conversation lasted about 30 seconds.

We're probably buying our stove and microhood from them too. The description of the washer was perfect, the price was good, and they have good customer service.

HD type of stores really to me, a self serve store more than anything... it cause me more troubles when asking for help... but looks like this type of store get more acceptance these days as many customers like myself don't want to be bother with sales people.... the no-pressure shopping experience also help a lot... that is why HD makes tons of money...

OK, I work at HD part time........ If you don't know they're really bad on having coverage in all dept's....... so 1 person can wind up coverin 2-3 on avg. (personally I've had to cover 6 for about a hour several times due to the lunch "Schedule". We're expected to Clean and keep the shelves full. Not to mention the lack of people getting trained on the Equipment.

As Far as Tools, Some Manufacterers Warranties cover them. HD Doesn't Unless you get the Product protection Plan. I know we deal with the Ridgid as it's the store brand.

Price matching Must be the EXACT same Item for it to be Price matched.

I've learned working there no matter how much I "Qualify" someone for whatever they're buying, (IE Electical wire esp. Service and Heavier type stuff) they Don't always know what they do need or how Much they need.

I go out of my way to make people Happy when I Can. A lot otf the new hires they get are the people that will work for the Lowest wage and usually don't care or know what they're doing in a given dept. I've lost count of how many fellow associates I've overheard giving incoorect or incomplete advice. I'll correct them if I'm able.

Gettng off my Soap box now.................

I don't blame HD... as long as the price is competitive... you can't have both... low price and good service.... as you need to pay for good service....

but then are they really low price across the board.... I find you got to smart when shop over there... something are real cheap ... some aren't...

Another good customer service place...

We just discovered Busy Beaver. We thought it was just a lumberyard, so we hadn't gone in. It turns out to be a general hardware store, similar to HD and Lowes. The selection is a little smaller, but they have everything and it looks they'll special order items. It seems to be a small chain in the PA/OH/WV area.

The customer service is great. Every time I walk in, the woman running the cash register says hello and asks if I need help. On my way to the garden section, 3 other people asked if I need help looking for something. I finally said sure, I need a new shovel and a rake, where are they? He bothered to ask what purpose I needed them for and then gave me his full evaluation of the shovels and rakes in supply.

All that for a rake and a shovel to clear out the leaves my sycamore keeps dropping. (I also was told why the sycamore is dropping leaves in August: dry summer.)

Price-wise, several things were cheaper than HD. Selection wasn't quite as good, as the store is smaller.
