Another health myth?

"According to a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition by lipid scientist Ronald Krauss, M.D., and his colleagues, "there is insufficient evidence from prospective epidemiologic studies to conclude that dietary saturated fat is associated with an increased risk of CHD [coronary heart disease], stroke, or CVD [cardiovascular disease]." To find out more about how no one has ever proved a link between saturated fat and clogged arteries,As a result, the case against saturated fats has largely crumbled. Yes, consumption of saturated fat does raise LDLbut mainly the benign forms. The supposed role of these fats in heart disease has been debunked.

Which is the myth?

That saturated fat causes heart disease or that studies have shown no link between the two?

If it's the first, I agree. Despite what science may say, the fact is that cases of heart disease and similar problems have risen substanially since being advised to reduce the amount of saturated fat in our diets.

Fats have 101% to do with obesity. And obesity definitely causes cardiac disorders. Now it's up to you guys, calculate it yourself.

i still believe saturated fats and all fats and carbs, sugars tribute to heart disease, high cholesterol etc. it's just common sense. you eat doughnuts and pizza for 2 weeks, obviously you're going to gain weight and have horrible levels of crud in your body.

The problem is, scientific studies don't support what you are saying.

Another health myth?

I tend to believe it's true. My mom has always been the healthiest eater I have ever seen. Even after having 8 kids, she has never been overweight. In 2004 she had a heart attack and had to have a quadruple bypass. We were shocked that she would have a buildup in her arteries.

The same with David Letterman. He was always skinny and was obviously in good shape. He had to have bypass surgery too.

IMO, a persons gene's have more to do with their cholesterol than what they eat.

BTW, I just read that drinking a glass of juice every day with a teaspoon of food-grade diatomaceous earth mixed into it will, among other things, lower a person's cholesterol.

Another health myth?

I tried cholestrol meds, I believed the Drs. Then I tried fish oil. The fish oil, alone, no meds, dropped my cholesterol from 213 to 174 in 4 months. So if you believe cholesterol causes heart problems, I don't, try fish oil.
