Another black Widow spider

Found this black widow in the yard. Photographed her before moving her to a place away from housing. Third one I found this year.

Third one you've found this year?

Well, normally I leave spiders alone - they kill bugs.

However, here in Illinois - don't see too many Black Widows -
(I have seen them , though!)
Seen "Brown Recluse" - they're no fun.
Kill them and check for "egg-sacks" that they may have left -
destroy the "egg-sacks".
If a person is allergic to their venom - could be bad news!
Don't take them out away from a habitable, dwelling -
get rid of them!
Don't know about using a "boot", with my foot in it -
I prefer - a hammer!
Splat!!

The first picture looks like a black gumdrop with sugar sprinkled on it - with legs.

I'd get rid of it too.

Then I'd inspect every of inch my yard, garage, underside of the deck/porch, eaves, kids play/swing set and any nook and cranny I could find, in search of more of them.

Then I'd go to my neighbors houses and show them the thing and suggest that they look around their properties for them. Maybe you should keep it alive in a jar until you show it to them. It'll make more of an impression on them.

Then kill it.

A family in southern Pennsylvania found 30 of them in their yard, including one that was nesting under thier kids bicycle seat.

Wow these are scary - I am glad I haven't come across one of these yet. Aren't they fake ones that look like the real thing but are not poisonous?

I hate spiders.....I'll tollerate anything in the garden...except those b!tches....

Look for their nests....they look like white balls with spines on them.

And...BTW....I HATE spiders.

I'd like to trade our Black Widows and Brown Recluses for fireflies. Growing up on the west coast, I'd never seen one until I was 21 and went to North Carolina for a summer.

Be happy to send you some fireflies or lightning bugs as they call them around here without the trade. We have enough nasty bugs.
