Actual U. S. Debt-200 TRILLION

Hold on there. Some of that money is owed to me and to other U.S. Bond holders. Imagine what would happen if everybody tried to cash all those in at once.

Both parties are at fault for the deficit. 70 % of the debt up until 2008 was accumulated during the presidencies of Reagan and the 2 Bushes and the Democrats controlled congress for much of that time. So both are at fault.

According to a documentary "Camp Leatherneck," it costs an avg. of
$1 million per Marine per year to keep that Marine there (training, supplies, missions, etc). Camp Leatherneck houses (ed) six to seven thousand Marines. Plus all the smaller outposts it supplies and supports.

Disclaimer: As of the Bush II administration, the war money was never really added to the deficit. Not sure about right now.

So, yes, we are screwed.

And I'm wondering why we still need to go in space for an international space station.

Just think how much we could save if we stopped all foreign aid.

The real government spending is in defense, health care, social security, and debt servicing. Most US foreign aid goes to war on drugs, supporting Israel, or to prop up countries our military has destroyed.
