Leah, you can't marry your husband, He is already married...wait...that is not true.

I married my wife (again) 2nd time in the church after three years of marriage.

Anyway, I am just being an idiot, as is my nature.

Congratulations again Leah.

Andy.

You wouldn't happen to get your use of DH off of the ER/FIRE boards would you? :-)

I actually call him 'Dear Husband'. But, I do understand that DH, DW, DD, DS are very common on many boards.

I was married for about 25 years to Joy. I began seeing another woman, also named Joy. At an industry event where names tags were worn to jog memories, my new friend put her name down as O.J. because I knew many people for 20 years or so. When asked about the tag, she said "I am the other Joy" to my old friends. We now have been married for 21 years.

The 2 Joys are good friends in person and on e-mails for family party scheduling, but the grandchildren still have a bit of a problem with the names and relationships. They sorted this out by going by agreed on names as "Gramma Joy" and "JoyJoy" (or Joy2). We just got back from the surprise party that Joy1 had for her boyfriend of many years. That was more comfortable than my recent high school reunion, when at the dinner table, my first wife introduced herself as Joy1, my present wife said she was Joy2, but the next woman was qucik and said "I guess I am Joy3", even thoughad known her and her husband for 50 years.

Abbreviations can be a little vague and misinterpreted. That makes life interesting.

Dick - there are so many things I like about your story. I really like JoyJoy. But mostly I like that you and your Ex have managed to not only be civil to each other but to continue to cultivate enough of a relationship that you go to parties she hosts for her boyfriend. Good for you both. And congrats to you on having more than 40 years of marriage (even if it took two different Joys to put up with you that long ).

I think this is how families should work. My uncle (Dad's bro) divorced his first wife 30-some years ago (he's still married to #4). He divorced her, but our family never did. She spends weekends six times a year with my mom, we spend our family beach week with her and my cousin, and we still call her 'Aunt'.

In a day and age where marriage is fairly disposable, I am pretty proud that not only have my Husband (Justin) and I have put in 13 years; but that we continue to want to be married to each other. And we still put the work in to make that happen. It sure hasn't happened by accident.

When my wife and I met everyone said there was too much age difference, she was 23, I was 35. That was 28 years ago.

My wife and I were married in 1975, took a year break in 1981, re married in 1982 and are still together.Kind of strange marring the same person twice. At least I think so.
