I'm renovating an inherited lakehouse built by my grandfather. It's down to the gut stage, with new wiring roughed-in. I have the luxury of not living in it and an open timeline, though I'd like to move in by Autumn. I'm spending money on materials and hiring out work requiring skill or beef. Oh, and craftsmen to teach/supervise as I get to each new phase.
Low cabin ceilings are gone, now vaulted with skylights. Removed kit. wall, added doors: the flow is completely different. Next phases: insulation, plumbing, hydronic radiant heat, drywall. I'm creative, and eager to get to the fun stuff of tiling, building inset bookcases, putting up the TNG ceiling -- so this infrastructure stage is ... well, I'm trying to get my momentum back after a long, cold winter.
Themes: reuse/recycle/repurpose, creative/artistic, cork flooring, glass tile. I plan on being here for decades, so remaking it into my own haven is a joy. Happy to have found this forum! I'm in the Pacific Northwest, near Seattle.
