Saying Hello!

Hello Folks,

I'm new here, but not entirely new to DIY around the house

Recently we had our home sided. New gutters and fascias were installed as well. Well now my contractor has folded up shop and filed for bankruptcy without even finishing the job, and I've got a collections agency contacting me about money owed on the supplies used in the job. Also, my gutters are freezing up and over and water is coming into the house

I found this place while looking into gutter-heaters, and hopefully I'll get the info I need to fix that issue, and I'll be able to help others out in the future.

Best, Barry

Well, I don't mind tackling a job that can be done in a day or two, but I've got a full time job, and a couple of young kids that keep me busy, so for big jobs I hire a contractor. I did my due diligence by contacting 3 former clients and they all had nothing bad to say, so I thought I had a good one. Oh well.

by the way here's their website, I hope no one else gets taken by them like I did...

Half reading a post and jumping to the wrong conclusions happens here a lot.---Mike--

It is unfortunate when something like that happens. And there really is no guarantee against a business failure. It wouldn't hurt to call your homeowners insurance aget to see if any of the water damage is covered.

I have a few jobs like that waiting until I have the time also. I may tackle my front gutter that needs work. My gutter is at the second story level so I have to weigh the pros of what I can save against the cons of falling and injuring myself. My neighbor across the street fell from his ladder and broke his heel and wrist. So the potential cost of medical bills and work time lost from injuries have to be worked into the equation.
