I'm new to this DIY site. I've been doing small projects around the house and I'm starting to take on bigger projects.
I'm working on replacing my windows. The Anderson 200 line. Came with the house. Looking to find replacement windows or firstly new jamb liners. I damaged them as I was trying to remove them. I'd love to hear some advice or info.
have been a window specialist most of my life .most replacements are measured from side to side , and from top to bottom. most window company will take a full measurement , and then knock about a 1/4 inch off the entire window .and this is the standard practice for most companys . if the windows are really old you have to remove all of the material except the window stop itself .all the existing track will have to go . window frame will stay intact .meaning top, bottom, and side jambs . so pay particular attention to the detail of your window .as older homes will have window weights rather than tension spring side jambs ,hope this has been helpful . thanks jim
