Reluctant, Tough-Luck DIY Guy from Baltimore

Hello everyone-
I'm a 31-year-old husband and father of two. I'm a Facilities Manager full-time, part-time Managing Editor at www.OriolesHangout.com (I also moderate a message board like this one), and in what time I have left I try my hand at home improvement.

To be honest, it seems that no matter how simple the project seems, it never quite goes that way. I've got my hands full right now: I have a toilet leaking from underneath and through the floor. I've replaced the wax ring, tightened the flange bolts, and even replaced the entire toilet and it hasn't helped. So now I'm planning to rip up the tiles (need to be replaced anyway) and sub floor so that I can see what's going on underneath.

I also tore down some old wood paneling in my family room to find more wood paneling underneath. Underneath that? Nothing but studs. I actually started a thread about that right here.

Some projects I've done? Ceramic floor tile, laminate wood flooring, drywall replacement, wood fence construction, and plenty of others that don't come to mind.

Well, I'm glad to be here. Happy New Year everyone!!!

I grew up in Essex (it's okay...I'm not armed) but live in White Marsh now.

You?

Being from Essex I'm quite familiar with Sparrows Point. My father-in-law still works "down the Point".

I actually have a sheepskin from the U of R. Man...small world!

Thanks for the nice welcome everyone. I'm looking forward to using this message board as a resource. Hopefully over time I'll be able to contribute!
