oak woodwork and doors throughout house

Hi, everyone, I have the ultimate dilemma. It has red oak woodwork and doors in every room in good condition.

I just purchased a 20 yr old colonial and I am installing all hardwood and installing an auburn maple glazed kitchen.

My questions is what to do with all the oak woodwork. Should I paint it white or leave it. Having decorating problems with all that oak.

It should be against the law to paint hardwood trim.

Besides being against a lot of people's moral compass to paint wood trim, oak doesn't take to painting well without a decent amount of prep-work. The grain is too deep. You'll probably get better results by removing the oak and replacing it with trim that is made to be painted.

I believe there is a special place in Hell for people who paint woodwork. There are a bunch of frosty glasses of ice water there, always just beyond reach.

What is a frosted auburn glazed honey maple kitchen? Does it look like a ham?
