Newb from Asheville NC with a few projects

Hi, glad to be here.

I have a dream project in a basement of my new house to build a theater room with a projector and a 5.1 or 7.1 surround setup...

So I'll be asking all kinds of drywall, electrical code, framing and ceiling types of questions.

Example: I'm going to start a thread somewhere asking about a way to suspend a drywall ceiling rather than a drop ceiling because of soundproofing superiority of a double layer drywall surface verses a dropped grid acoustic tile ceiling, however I've got too much plumbing and wiring suspended under the joists to move, so I've got to drop.. somehow, in one section of the ceiling.

The ceiling joists are Trus I-joists, so those are a new thing to me also so I'll be careful about working around that stuff also, especially the flanges.. Infact, I'm not even crazy about screwing into the them at all, but I guess I gotta.

I'm a frequent over at AVSForum so I'm also always interested in soundproofing and room acoustics topics, along with A/V wiring, etc. though this little project will force me to learn about HVAC and other building topics also. Looks like this is the place.
