Hi all. Just 3 months after getting a small house on the bayou to use as a fish camp/weekend relaxation, we got 3 feet of water thanks to Isaac. So instead of enjoying the place, I'm getting back into diy stuff to bring it back (this after owning a 100 year old place up in Cleveland for 17 years, great for cutting one's diy teeth). Don't expect too many questions about techniques, but will be looking for advice on more modern and flood-resistant materials (insulation, wall and floor coverings, etc.) thanks in advance

Hello Marvin and welcome to the best darn DIY'r site on the web.

Stilts is the best way to resist flood waters, the problem is how high to make them.....

thanks. would love to be able to raise the place as long term solution, but there are complications (part of the place is on slab, part on low crawl space, plus $$$). At least the boat stayed in place.
