Hello, i am a very recently retired homeowner in Richmond, VA and am looking forward to getting my house in order

my question is - has anyone found their life dramatically improved by having their duct's cleaned? I got an estimate of $700 and have seen that there's certainly dust up there.......but is it necessary and will it help with allergies?
thanks, mcgina

Hi mcgina

Welcome to DIY Chatroom, don't have ducts in my house, but do have allergies.

You know you can always get more then one quote.

When we installed a new furnace we had our ducts cleaned. We also put in an Aprilaire...and dust has really been cut down. I don't know if it was cleaning the ducts or the Aprilaire, but we'd been remodeling for years and there was a lot of plaster dust in the ducts. $700 seems really high.
