Hi, everyone; I am new to tyhe diy forum. I am a 64 year old retired freight hauler from the Salt Lake City area. Years ago, I used to do a lot of projects around the house and also some mechanic work on my own vehicles. Now that have frorgotten everything I knew, I need to do this stuff out of economic necessity instead of just for fun. I will be doing a lot more listening rather than talking so much. Also, don't ask me why the type has changed in this note, it is just my fat fingers. Thank You all

Drove truck for a time myself, northeast regional. It's a good living but it does take you away from home so much it's hard to do much home improvment. Retirement will give you more time I'm sure and it will come back to you.

Hi Truckee! I'm new too and will also be doing a lot of listening, methinks. The difference between us is that I've never really done any DIY projects around the house (only having owned my first house for about 18 months now), so I need to learn for the first time!

Nightlore, Glad to hear from you. I guess we can sit back, share a cup of tea, and learn something together. I live in an old house built in about 1955. IT is not old enough to be an historical home, just old enough to be falling down around my ears.
I think this will be a lot of fun, most of the time.
