Hi everyone,

I'm an IT Architect, husband, father, and owner of a 5-year-old house with an unfinished basement. I had some questions about framing around a rough-in fireplace and found DIYForums via google.

I'm fairly handy with rough work (framing, electrical and insulation). I'm not so great with design and finishing work. This is the second house I've owned - working on the first one taught me a lot of what not to do!

I'm glad to have found this forum. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
