Question

A new me

I've spent all my life working in the trades, now I have sorta retired, may spend soem time down her in the USA where the winters are a lot warmer than on the prairies in Alberta. I worked as an electrician, a welder and as a machinist. I worked as a mechanic and as a HVac worker, although I never apprenticed for either one of those. Lately I worked an a home inspector but with a new hip, I have poor balance so "roof wandering" is out of the question.
Now I would like to install some patio lights and fans but am not sure of the NEC rules, thus my questions.

Welcome. i've been to calgary and also the Lethbridge area ( though not in winter) nice places, I enjoy all my travels to Canada really.

"down here" few home inspectors will walk a roof. you are lucky to get them to pull out a set of binoculars to look at the roof. next house I buy i think i can sniff out most issues that look funny. I'll probably just spend the house inspector money getting a specialist to look at any issues i find ( ie structural engineer for cracking or remodel issues, electrician for any code issues, plumber for any plumbing issues. that kind of thing.
