Hi. My name is Matthew and I just registered today. I just graduated from college and I'm currently working and living at home, attempting to save for a down payment. I hope to be out of my parent's home in two years and into my own. I'm hoping to find a fixer-upper that I can turn a profit on after 5 or 6 years. After that I'd like to build my own home if I can afford it. Anyway, I'm just here to roll around some ideas, get some advice, etc...

Very smart choices in life thus far! I too am new here, but wish you the best in all your searches and questions. Stay at home as long as they will have you and you can stand to! You will have soooo much of a headstart over your peers.

So to follow up on my original post of about a year and some nine months ago-I finally bought a house! I spent most of that time lurking on here and occasionally posting, but I finally did. My fiancee and I finally purchased a two bedroom one bath rancher in Northwestern New Jersey. It's about 40 years old and was in pretty good shape when we bought it. As a condition of sale the seller replaced all of the windows with double hung vinyl units, replaced the roof and attic fans, and replaced the electrical panel with a new 200 amp service. Since moving in we've refinished the hardwood floors (didn't DIY that one ), painted all rooms, and have now started doing lots of "little stuff" like replacing all of the switch/receptacle plates, bad door knobs, etc... I'll post some before and after pics soon. In the meantime I'll have plenty of questions!
