New to this forum, but a life-long DIYer
Hello. I just signed up for the membership here, but I have been doing my own repairs on most things most of my adult life (I am 47). When I was 16 and bought my first car (piece of junk, of course!) I learned to wrench on it myself as using a mechanic was not an economically feasible option for me. I am pretty handy and do most things around the house myself. what brought me here is my garage door's torsion spring. I know the garage door industry really does not want DIY people to do anything with the springs and doors, but this does not usually deter me. I deal with electrical projects all the time and there is great energy there too and possibility of getting hurt. The important thing is to learn how to do it right and not get hurt and things usually work out just fine. Anyway, the door spring replacement went fine, but I think I may have miscalculated the spring rate and need to know how to adjust for that.
I hope I can add my experience to the community here and possibly learn a few things as well.
Glad you found us, welcome!
