hey everyone! we were just lucky enough to come across an old 1900 built home in our lovely town... but it has not been renovated for years! it's truly overwhelming what we will need to do. However we are "reusers" not replacers if at all possible... the biggest issue we are facing is that everything was done with rough plaster (no finishing coat) and wallpaper was put directly on it... maybe a few times, there are also lovely settlement cracks :/. From the research I've done I have found that removing the wall paper is costly and you will have to do an overhaul of work... have any of you ever wall papered over wallpaper? In 2 of the rooms I am just going to apply wainscoting panels and forget about it, but I don't want striped rooms in the entire house, any input is much much much appreciated!
oh I apologize, I should have been more clear, I typed before having my coffee, I am not looking to take it down, I want to cover it. I actually think due to a suggestion I received and all the positive things I found about it, that I will be trying fabric that I starch on to the walls and reinforce with trim to make permanent thanks tho
