Need Training

Hello, anyone out there in south florida, (mainly fort lauderdale), would mind to train me in estimating, or give me some tips on construction. I am desperately looking for a job in construction and I have no experience. I have 3 courses left of my CM Program at FIU. If you are a type of contractor or project manager or anything of that nature and need a hand on any thing you are doing (whether running errands, printing, typing, organizing.. etc), please let me know, I don't even have to get paid. Thanks.

Andrew

Welcome Andy---Good luck on the search for work----

Show up on construction site early,Before work starts----that is about the only time to catch the boss when he is not going to find you to be an interruption.

Be dressed for work and have the basic tools of a beginner.--Mike---

Mike gave you some great advise Andy, do what he says.

This is the time to get off the computer and go knock on some doors.

Thank you. The thing is I don't have the right clothes (hard hat, right tools etc...). Also, how do I know when they start doing construction? Also what do you suggest I go about telling them to give me a job?
Thanks
Andrew

Just show up on a job at 7-8 am in not so new jeans and T shirt looking for the boss. Then ask him with confidence “ya got anything I can do”.

If there’s anything special you need he’ll tell you and might even loan you until your first check if he can see some potential in you.

Don’t get discouraged just keep hitting up job sites and you’ll find work.

That’s how I got all of my jobs in the early years.

Good luck.

When you don't have experience --often showing up on a day that they are short handed will get your foot in the door----

A simple,"Hi,I'm looking for a job." works.

Basic beginners tools---simple tool pouch,Good ruler--hammer--pencils--carpenters knife--speed square--work gloves.

First week you will be a go-for and a set of muscles---Watch,learn and be helpful.
