Hi Sherry, welcome. Your first order of business should be to fix whatever is causing the wet basement...ASAP

Hi Sherry
Yeah you'll want to put that basement on the top of the list there

To reduce the amount of water entering the basement try to get the discharge from the downspouts as far away from the house as possible. If you live on a street that has a storm sewer then get the water to the storm sewer. The average sized house will have over 2,000 gallons of water coming off of the roof from a rain strom that drops an inch of rain.

If you have a hill near the house that makes the rain water run towards the house then install a collection basin and a drain line towards the storm sewer.

Repair any cracks in the interior of the foundation with hydraulic cement to reduce water seepage.
