Need to raise the floor in basement bathroom

Hello everybody,

I'm Franklin from Ottawa, Canada. This is my first posting on this forum which looks awesome I might add...

I'm in the process of finishing my basement. I had alot of spare hardwood which I decided to install in my basement. First I laid the 2x2 dricore panels followed by 5/8" of plywood followed by the hardwood itself.

My problem now is that I have about a 1 1/2" height difference where the hardwood meets the bathroom which I'm in the process of finishing now and only has the bare concrete floor.

I'd like to even it out if possible but without breaking the bank in the process. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what options I might have where I can save a few $$ without compromising the integrity of the floor?

Thanks,

Franklin

Try using a transition strip. Here is a link: http://www.shop.floorlife.com/category.sc?categoryId=47
or install tile in the bathroom and then add the threshold strip.

Would 1 1/2" not be too much of a height difference? I'd be afraid that someone would stub their toe coming out of the bathroom half asleep.

Then add tile to the bathroom floor and put in a threshold strip to divide the tile from the wood floor. Something like this: http://www.schluter.co.uk/produkt.aspx?doc=1-3-reno-t.xml&pg=funktion

Go figure, I bumped into an old friend who does concrete work. He's coming over this weekend. Will keep the rest of the Internet posted.
