My Jeep too slow

Hi everyone,

my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee can not exceed a speed of 88 mph. Is it normal? Does anybody know as to wheather it could be locked at that speed by a manufacturer or else, is there anything that could be done?

Thanks, Ivan

This belongs in the automotive repairs section. What I can tell you is that it is possible you have a governor on your engine. The suspension and tires you have fitted may have been part of the reasoning behind Chrysler choosing to keep it under 88. You could probably have it reprogrammed to remove the cap, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you have speed-rated passenger tires (I don't think LT tires are). There aren't even many areas in the USA where you can legally go that fast!

besides wondering why you want to take a jeep to these speeds you should join a jeep forum. they will help you more than anything this site is capable of.
