Leaking shower in mobile home

Hi from France,

I bought a 20 year old mobile home last month. It looks quite nice inside but I'm not sure about its durability (did I get that word right?). The shower tray is leaking from underneath and even my bedroom (which is next to the bathroom) gets flooded each time we take a shower.
Is there anyone who might have had the same kind of problem who could help me?
Thanks in advance.
Merry Christmas to everyone!!

You have no choice but to demolish the shower to locate the leak exactly; but if it is coming from the shower pan (the base you stand on) then these can be easily replaced with new plastic bases. Could be the drain, or the caulkiing around the drain assembly. Either way, you will have to remove it only to find out. New bases around here are about US$400.

Salut CCarlisle,

Yes new bases are quite cheap over here too. In fact I saw a full shower unit complete with those spa things and the glass doors and base for 200 Euros.
But as I have only just bought the house I shall have to wait for some time before I could buy anything as I have spent all the money I've been saving.

You may need a plumber or a good handyman to do the job - but itès about a day's worth. You don't want a mould problem on top of everything else.
