Just moved into a old wood frame house this past January. (I would not recommend winter moves unless you MUST.) So far I have installed 6 new ceilings to cover over the cracked and deteriorating plaster ones. Because of this experience I feel the sheetrock jack is an invention that should be mentioned in the conversation as sliced bread. I have plenty of insulation work to do and some electrical. I will definitely be hitting up the forums for advice on spray foam as the winter heating bill was not cheap.
I am a network sysadmin, so I will also be networking the house with ethernet too. Thank you for providing a forum to share know-how. It is a great resource for the DIY-er.
I have to agree with you, this site has so much knowledge behind it!!!! I sure hope that you will be able to get some of that insulation done prior to the LONG COLD winter and with the help from the contributors lots of your questions will be answered here.
Good Luck and Welcome.
