I'm the new guy asking questions

Mustang Gregg here (just my SASS alias).

I have been here on the DIY site awhile asking questions on the right way to go about getting a new house built for the wife and me.
I'm 56 yrs old and an currently deployed to Afghanistan with my ARNG unit.
I have farmed, ranched, been an aircraft mechanic and done construction. I have built barns, garages, machine sheds and workshops. So I plan on doing a lot of the work myself.

I will be asking a load of questions.

Much obliged,
MG

How long before your tour is over? Is that when you're going to start your new home?

I have been asking a load of construction questions on here lately. And I've got a lot of good hints and answers back.
Thanks a lot.
This is a forum website that we are not blocked from here in Afghanistan. Many informational sites are blocked. So I'm getting good answers and sources.

Oddly enough there are a slew of spammers from there---that's why many sites have blocked Afghanistan.

Be safe---and keep working on your plans---Mike---

No, I ain't a "professional", either. But I have built and refurbed a lot of buildings in my 56 years. I am not afraid of getting at it myself.

So I am drawing my own plans. They WILL be deviated from as necessary.
Mom was trained in drafting and architecture. She taught me the basics. She designed (and Dad) built our 28 X 80 house in 1969. It's a fine solid house with no problems yet today.

Gotta run,
MG
