I do fire sprinklers but joined because I need bathroom remodel advice

Hi everyone.

I live in a 70 year old southern style house with 3" thick hardwood floors on 2x10 floor joists 12" on center, 2x6 studs in interior walls, 8" studs for exterior walls and 2x10 roof framing. Very well built, I think I have more wood than most national forests, but very dated. Cast iron tub in bathroom that looks icky.

I will prepare a dimensional drawing, probably tomorrow, and post it in the plumbing section for advice.

I am someone most homeowners never thought they would meet.... I design fire sprinkler systems. So far nearly all my work involves schools, hospitals, storage and mercantile buildings but fire sprinklers are going to be coming to new homes in the very near future.

Like California.

California adopts fire sprinkler requirements in new homes

By unanimous vote the California State Building Standards Commission adopted the 2009 IRC code that includes fire sprinkler requirements in all new one- and two-family homes and townhomes. With this action, California becomes the third state to formally adopt the code. As the most populous state in the U.S., this is a huge victory for proponents of life safety. The new code requirement becomes effective January 1, 2011.
California is not the first or only state and more who fall under the IRC will be moving to that direction. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

You should have not problem laying tile on that floor.
