Question

Hidy ho, neighbors!

New to this site. Seems like there's lots of good advise here. Hope to take advantage of it since I bought a bit of a fixer upper house. Right now I'm about to tackle some drywall repair. I've posted a thread in remodeling, but i'm going to post here as well. I was wondering if it's alright to recoat a painted wall with mud. Here's my thought. I have a livingroom with walls that aren't in terrible shape. Just lot's of little bad patches. I want to retexture the walls. Thought I might sand the walls. Only enough to rough them up. Not try to totally remove the paint. Just give a good tooth to the wall. Then paint a layer of primer, like Kilz. Waterbased of course. Then put a mud texture coat on top. Just wondering if I'm barking up the wrong tree or not. Would love some advice.
