Greetings from Montana.
My husband, son and I live in the Bitterroot Vally of MT on 4 acres. We have 1 1/2 of that in a market garden that we sell produce to the local farmers markets, restaurants, local small stores and to caterers.
We have always tried to live a simple life and do a lot of the old time things like make our own soap, cheeses, garden, sew etc.....etc......
We have been looking for ways to build a low cost well built house on the land. We are living in an older mobile and frankly it is getting to all of us...hahaha Not that living in a mobile would be a bad thing but this is starting to fall apart.
We thought that we would have a house built by now but wit the way that the economy is going we lost a lot of our investments.......Oh well we are learning to start over.
I would just like to get this going and built before my grandchildren are in college........ hahahahah
We want to build a 36 X36 (the poles would be on the outside of the wall framing) pole house that is canter levered out for the decks all the way around with a square hipped roof and a copula in the middle of the peek. If that makes sense.
We are also needing information on how to best treat the post before they go in the ground.
I would GREATLY appreciate any information that anyone would share.
We live in Zone 4
