Hi From Iowa!

Stumbled upon this forum and loved the great information! My husband and I live in a turn of the (last) century cottage that is beautiful but needs a lot of attention. I am not great at DIY (yet) but my hubby is-- and I'm not afraid to try doing anything myself and he always goes with the pros so we balance out somewhere in the middle. Best DIY tip I ever received: using "Scrubbing Bubbles" to get nicotine out of plaster walls. I look forward to see what else I can pick up from all the DIYers on this site!

Hi From Iowa!

Welcome! I spent a summer in Western Iowa trying to bring retail back to two little towns between Des Moines and Omaha. Interesting I guess. They knew WalMart and other box stores sucked them dry but the big event on Saturdays was to hope you didn't hit a raccoon the size of a bear, drive 45 miles to see a movie, and shop for stuff at the only places left---box stores. I will say it was a weird experience to see some folks almost overdressed at a WalMart. They never got the connection the place killed their downtowns.
