Hi. My name's Landon and I'm from Florida.
I recently bought a piece of property on an island and I'm going to build a cabin on it (which has a fairly unique set of building challenges). I joined the forum to learn more about building in general.
I spent a few months working full time with Bridgeport Habitat for Humanity when I was with the Americorps NCCC program, and I got the 'building bug' there.
On a scale of 1-10, I would rate my present knowledge about a 4. Not by any means an expert, but not a total beginner either. I am certainlly not equal to the knowledge base I'm seeing around here! Wow!
I am also a bit of a tool junkie (I tend to buy tools that I don't even need, just because it's a tool that I don't have)

First thing I would do, is look around for signs of high water, and then go from there. It would be nothing more then if you where Building off of Grid, and having to utilize 3rd world techniques for water & waste.
