Hi to everyone! New here today!

Hi! New to this site, but not to home improvement and repair. Started out of necessity many years ago. I began with my itsy bitsy cordless screwdriver (the best gift I ever got from my husband! )and now can't live without my 18V drill or compound miter saw. Lots to learn, though, and love to get other ideas and opinions. Current projects are insulating and preparing attic for finishing off for a room and debating on whether I can tackle my entry doors myself. Old house = weird stuff, so we shall see. Lots to do before the snow hits, so here goes!

that's cool! i'm trying to teach myself to do home repairs too. i grew up with a dad who did all of them, so that kinda helps. did your family do repairs or are you just teaching yourself everything?? either way, it sounds like you've learned a whole lot, which gives me some hope!

paintinGirl, hello! And yes, totally self taught. It started out of necessity after first husband died. He used to do it all. He had started some projects and they were major ones, so I had to hire a carpenter to finish some of it. But I then started to tackle some of the smaller parts of the projects on my own. That was pre-internet, but I had some manuals which I read and re-read. I moved to another house and of course, yet more projects to do. I just learned as I went. I now really enjoy doing these things and I learn something new all the time. Unfortunately, I am older now and some of my physical flexibility and stamina is not what it was 25 yrs ago. But I try to do what I can. And you can do it, too!
