Hello from Wisconsin

Hey everyone, I was looking for some info and came across this site. I'm new and need some help. I am putting lattice up outside, and I was wondering if I should prime it first, or just use a couple coats of the outdoor paint I have. It is untreated wood, FYI. I am in the process of making some changes to the landscaping as well as the inside of the house I have been living in. I am a DIY in training, learning as I go, and your input will be greatly appreciated.:D
