I am new to home repairs and maintenance and am enjoying doing a lot of things that I used to pay someone for. So far I am pretty cautious (no electrical work, for example), but a lot of the work is simple, once it is demystified.
Vancouver is one of the rainiest places in North America, so water leaks are a huge problem here, and we have just had major storms that have forced water into places that used to be waterproof.
And of course you can't fix a leak until the area is dry and warm, which is not possible.
Any tips on leaks gratefully accepted.

Where are the leaks?

roof, basement, walls...

Leaks
 

along the edge of the upstairs deck, a torchon membrane with wooden decking over it. The deck slopes in a little, as the house has settled, and so the water pools there. It comes down a bit into the floor below along two of the walls.
